Marine Weather Forecasts via SMS

From Cape Wrath to Cowes - text in the area you'd like, wait a couple of minutes and your forecast will appear in your Inbox.

All you need is a mobile phone and a UK network operator signal to use this service.

You will receive a 6-hour weather summary giving current conditions and the forecast for the next few hours.  It contains temperature, wind speed and direction, visibility and percentage chance of precipitation.

SMS forecasts contain a maximum of 160 characters and if you require more detail use the telephone service. 

To request a forecast by SMS -

• Simply create a TEXT MESSAGE
• Type MC plus the name of the LOCATION
• Send to 83141

If you would like a forecast delivered daily before 9am, just insert the word ‘sub’ into your next SMS request, i.e. MC SUB Southampton.

Terms and Conditions: Text forecasts cost 25p, and are subject to network operator standard text charges. Marinecall is available to all mobile networks. Forecasts are updated every hour at 30 minutes past the hour and give data for the previous hour, the current hour and the next 4 hours. If the data used to power SMS is subject to delay, your message will be supplied with the latest update as soon as available if within 3 hours. If not, you will not be charged for the forecast.
